Mary Maranga

PhD student

I completed my Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology from Kenya. After this, I received a Bioinformatics fellowship at the Biosciences Eastern and Central Africa, International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) hub in Kenya. I further gained interest in metagenomics and moved to Tomasz Kościółek Structural and Functional Genomics group, Jagiellonian University in 2019, where I am currently doing my PhD. My research aims to improve the understanding of the role of the human gut microbiome in health and disease. My main work focuses on developing workflows for metagenomics functional annotation.
